CG Schmidt Team Supports OakFit Gym Build in Arizona

CG Schmidt is proud to highlight a recent volunteer effort that helped bring a meaningful new wellness space to life at Oakwood Creative Care’s Chandler Campus in Arizona.

A group of CG Schmidt team members from the Milwaukee office—including Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Mike Abuls, Vice Presidents Jeremy Theis and Bryce Unger, and Managing Directors Joe Hoffmeier, Andy Weigman, Ryan Schmidt, and Matt Bruggink—along with the Arizona office team, including General Manager Nicole Cuellar and Business Development Director Nicole Snyder, came together to transport, assemble, and install fitness equipment for Oakwood’s new OakFit Gym.

The team coming together reflects CG Schmidt’s commitment to giving back and supporting communities beyond project sites. Oakwood Creative Care noted, “This group may be the longest-traveled volunteers in Oakwood Creative Care’s history.”

The OakFit Gym is the newest addition to Oakwood Creative Care’s Chandler Adult Day Club and Hub, a first-of-its-kind campus in Arizona made possible through the generous support of Arizona Complete Health and the Centene Foundation. The campus brings together an Adult Day Club, support Hub, and Wellness Clinic under one roof to provide a comprehensive model of care and connection.

“We are deeply grateful to CG Schmidt for their generosity, hard work, and willingness to go the extra mile (quite literally!) to support older adults and families in our community,” said Sherri Friend, President and CEO of Oakwood Creative Care. “Their efforts are helping create a space where anyone can come to build their strength, confidence, and resilience while aging.”

Designed with accessibility and whole-person wellness in mind, the OakFit Gym will feature adaptive fitness equipment, a relaxation station, and additional wellness-focused amenities tailored specifically for older adults. The space is intended to support strength, movement, and resilient aging in a welcoming, community-centered environment.

Beyond fitness, the gym plays an important role in Oakwood Creative Care’s broader Wellness Clinic vision—an innovative, community-based approach to supporting brain health and the aging journey. Through a whole-person model of care, Oakwood focuses on both physical and emotional well-being, offering expertise in dementia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke recovery, and healthy aging.

Their team also works closely with care partners to reduce stress and prevent burnout, ensuring support extends across the full circle of care.

As Arizona continues to experience rapid population growth among older adults, partnerships like this highlight the impact of collaboration in building forward-thinking, community-driven solutions that help individuals thrive.

CG Schmidt is honored to support Oakwood Creative Care and extends its sincere thanks to the entire team for the opportunity to contribute to a project that will make a lasting difference.
