West Allis Central High School Fieldhouse
West Allis Central High School has long been a cornerstone of the West Allis-West Milwaukee community, fostering academic achievement, school pride, and a strong tradition of athletics. The E.H. Stech Fieldhouse serves as a central hub for education, competitive sports, assemblies, and community events. To support student athletes and enhance the overall experience for students, staff, and visitors, the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District partnered with CG Schmidt to initiate renovations focused on modernizing the Fieldhouse and improving key building systems.
Scope of Work: The project included a comprehensive renovation of the Fieldhouse, highlighted by a full restroom remodel and installation of a new HVAC system. The restroom upgrades modernized finishes, fixtures, and layouts to improve durability, accessibility, and user experience. The new HVAC system significantly enhanced indoor air quality, temperature control, and overall comfort within the Fieldhouse.
Project Impact: The Fieldhouse renovation was delivered under an extremely tight schedule, requiring detailed planning and close coordination with the District. Strong preconstruction efforts laid the groundwork for success, carefully sequencing tasks to ensure each trade partner could efficiently complete their work.
To meet critical deadlines, flooring and bleacher crews worked seven days a week and, when necessary, across multiple shifts. When challenges arose, the team responded quickly—identifying solutions, developing correction plans, and maintaining forward momentum without compromising quality.
The result is a refreshed, high-performing Fieldhouse that enhances comfort, supports athletic excellence, and strengthens school connection—delivered on schedule through proactive planning and collaboration.
