ThriveOn King

ThriveOn King is a landmark redevelopment project, transforming Milwaukee’s historic Gimbels-Schuster’s building into a mixed-use hub for community, health, and housing. Led by Royal Capital in partnership with the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and the Medical College of Wisconsin, the project began in 2021 and included over 400,000 square feet of renovated space. The first phase delivered vibrant community and commercial areas featuring GMF, MCW, JobsWork MKE, Malaika Early Learning, Kinship Café, and Versiti Blood Center, along with public amenities such as meeting rooms, event spaces, a wellness lab, and artwork by local Black artists.

The second phase added 90 residential units—most of which are income-restricted or reserved for seniors—designed to meet the needs of families and individuals. With a focus on health equity, affordable housing, and anti-displacement, ThriveOn King blends historic preservation with community-driven design to create an inclusive anchor in Milwaukee’s Bronzeville neighborhood.
