Door Creek Park Shelter

A new multi-season community shelter at Door Creek Park on Madison’s far east side, creating a flexible gathering space designed to serve both neighborhood residents and the broader community. The facility aligns with the Parks Division’s adopted park master plan and enhances year-round programming opportunities through modern, adaptable design. The shelter functions as a central hub for community events, private rentals, and park operations, strengthening the park’s role as a destination for recreation and connection.

Scope of Work: The project includes the construction of a new multi-season shelter featuring an indoor event space with a 299-person capacity, a reservable outdoor covered area with an overhang, a prep kitchen, public restrooms, storage space for park equipment rentals, and a dedicated garage for maintenance vehicles and gear. The layout prioritizes flexibility and functionality, supporting both large gatherings and day-to-day park operations.

Sustainable & Civic Design: Rooftop solar panels support the building’s energy needs, reducing reliance on conventional power sources. The project is targeting LEED v4 certification through energy-efficient systems, water-saving fixtures, and sustainable materials, reinforcing a strong commitment to environmental responsibility, reduced operational impact, and occupant health. The result is a future-focused civic asset designed for year-round community use.
