UW Credit Union Plaza at American Family Field
CG Schmidt partnered with the Milwaukee Brewers and Kubala Washatko Architects, Inc. to deliver Phase I improvements to the outfield plaza at American Family Field. The project introduced new fan amenities, including a mini golf course, playscape, and beer garden, expanding opportunities for fans to gather and connect beyond the game.
Complex Construction: Construction was carefully phased around Brewers games, stadium events, and public access. During homestands, crews cleared the site four hours before game time, requiring flexible scheduling and precise coordination to maintain stadium operations.
Schedule Management: Despite a one-month delay in the state building permit process, CG Schmidt delivered the project in time for the Brewers’ homestand and grand opening. Strategic sequencing and coordination of specialty contractors enabled the mini golf course and play zone to be turned over one week ahead of schedule, allowing final installations to progress ahead of opening day.
Collaboration & Impact: Close coordination among the Milwaukee Brewers, Kubala Washatko Architects, trade partners, and specialty contractors supported safe execution, with no injuries throughout construction. The completed plaza enhances the American Family Field experience with new spaces for recreation, entertainment, and connection beyond the game.
