JOURNAL SQUARE LOFTS

The first phase of the construction at Journal Square Lofts is nearing completion.

The first phase of construction at Journal Square Lofts is nearing completion. Journal Square Lofts, a J. Jeffers & Co. multi-building redevelopment, provides a total of 77 apartments including 27 studios set aside for students earning less than 60 percent of the area’s median income. The remaining apartments are a mix of studio, two-bedroom and four-bedroom apartments. Milwaukee Area Technical College has agreed to lease all 77 apartments, providing an affordable housing option in Downtown Milwaukee to its students.

Construction of the project is on target to be completed in time for the 2021-2022 school year. Check out the latest construction progress photos

We are excited to have partnered with J. Jeffers & Co. to transform a monumental piece of Downtown Milwaukee’s history, the former office building for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, into affordable housing to meet the needs of a vulnerable and underserved population.

Next Up: Construction begins for Phase 2 on campus, the 1924 building! Stay tuned for updates on the renovation of the 6-story 1924 building into 141 apartment units plus a fitness studio, retail space, club/game room and outdoor patio.
