CEDARBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT

CG Schmidt’s relationship with Cedarburg School District started over twenty years ago with a multi-phased project at the High School and a large renovation of the Middle School. We are proud to continue the partnership with Cedarburg as we complete $59.8M of District-wide improvements in 2021.

The 2001 High School project included a science addition, a large gymnasium addition, a new swimming pool, HVAC upgrades, a new front entry and classroom. Also in 2001, over 100,000 SF at Webster Middle School was renovated in order to update the school’s layout from an open-pod format to a traditional layout. Work included the construction of science rooms, a library, ADA upgrades and mechanical and infrastructure work. In 2003, CG Schmidt was also engaged to complete a 3,800 SF expansion plus renovations to Westlawn Elementary School including new art rooms and new main entry.

In 2017, CG Schmidt was hired to assist the District through the Long-Range Master Planning process, resulting in a successful $59.8M referendum in 2018. To alleviate current and future capacity concerns and meet the District’s growing programmatic needs, these addition and renovation referendum projects have now been completed at each of Cedarburg School District’s five schools. District-wide improvements included classroom additions and reconfigurations, new gathering spaces, renovations of underutilized and existing spaces, along with new controlled after-hours access, security upgrades and improved egress routes.

Diversity was an important goal on the Cedarburg School District projects, which CG Schmidt achieved. Over 9 diverse vendors were utilized on the projects, as well as several local subcontractors from within the Cedarburg community.
