The PEAK Initiative celebrates grand opening of newly renovated program center in Midtown’s Tiefenthaler Park

MILWAUKEE – The Kellogg PEAK Initiative (PEAK) celebrated the grand opening of their larger, newly renovated program center on Friday, June 11, 2021. The event featured remarks from Dan Schiller – Executive Director of PEAK, Demetria Smith – Senior Director of Programs, as well as words of inspiration by PEAK youth and tours of the newly completed, 15,000-square-foot program center.

Over the past several years, PEAK and Milwaukee County Parks have collaborated to design a park master plan that provides an equitable, vibrant space for local youth to engage, learn and lead. Last summer, the master plan was announced and construction work commenced to expand the indoor facility for youth services and improve amenities and safety features as part of a revitalization of Tiefenthaler Park. This project was made possible by the generosity of the Kellogg Family Foundation.

“Our young people need and deserve an incredible space that matches their worth, and our goal for this project from the beginning has been to make Tiefenthaler the most vibrant park and program space in the city. We are all excited to open the doors of the PEAK program center to the community and its next generation of leaders,” Schiller stated.

The event took place at the PEAK Initiative Program Center at 2480 W Cherry St, Milwaukee, WI 53205.

Construction on the project is led by Milwaukee-based CG Schmidt, and architectural design provided by HGA. For more information on the PEAK project, click here. More information on the PEAK Initiative is here.
