CG SCHMIDT TO BUILD AUTOBAHN’S RACING COUNTRY CLUB
JOLIET, IL – CG Schmidt, Inc. was recently awarded the construction management services contract for Autobahn Country Club’s facilities expansion plan. The project will be built in Joliet, IL at the current country club site and will include a new clubhouse, restaurant, hotel, Speed Pavilion and condo units. The Autobahn Country Club opened three years ago in the South Chicago suburb based on a format similar to a traditional, golf country club. Amenities like a private clubhouse with a pool and locker rooms will be available for members, but racing, not golfing will be the activity of choice. Already, this concept has proven to be a formula for success, as membership has quickly met capacity and interest from the public has piqued. In order to meet the demand CG Schmidt has been invited to manage construction of the $18+ million expansion.David Schmidt, CG Schmidt’s Director of Corporate and Industrial Business Development, said “We are happy to contribute our sophisticated construction management experience to such an extraordinary project. At CG Schmidt we have begun expanding our services south of Milwaukee and into Chicago, so it is exciting to be part of something so distinctive.”CG Schmidt’s roster of notable work includes GE Healthcare’s Research Park, Bucyrus International’s Campus Expansion, Columbia St. Mary’s Replacement Hospital in Milwaukee and the world famous Santiago Calatrava addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum.Mark Basso, founder and president of the Autobahn Country Club remarked, “We are pleased to have CG Schmidt on board. Their early involvement in the pre-construction process has truly added value to what we have envisioned.”The Autobahn Country Club expansion is set to break ground by July 2008. Work should conclude just 15 months later in October 2009.
